National Service Scheme

The National Service Scheme(NSS) was initiated by the Government of India on the 24th of September, 1969 with the intention of involving the youth in the nation-building process. The major objective of the NSS is to instill the importance of Social Service among the youth. NSS, thus, helps the students in understanding the community in which they live and realize their role so that they can take active participation in the betterment of society as a whole and the overall development of the country. The college unit has a registration of 100 volunteers every year. The unit has been taking an active part in a host of service oriented activities. Blood donation and grouping, Aids awareness and flood relief operations, Traffic regulation management, Clean and Green have been some of the activities of the unit. 


Our Institute has a spacious canteen with hygienic environment which provides quality food and prompts service and caters to needs of all the students and the staff. The canteen is open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. There is a wide variety of North-Indian and South-Indian cuisine and the students enjoy the pleasure of eating during the breaks. R.O purified water for drinking is available.


To motivate games and Sports activities among student community and create bonhomie, Department of Physical Education has been encouraging and promoting sports activities for both men and women students and staff of the college during the academic year. Our magnanimous management, Head of the Institution of the College, CEO and Different Department Heads and Faculty members extended their guidance in successful conduct of the tournaments and activities from time to time. Every academic year, our college team players have represented in different events for Teams selection trials, Hockey, Basketball, Archery, Football, Table Tennis, Cricket, Kho-kho, Badminton, teams for participation at All India / South-zone inter-university Tournaments, and also inter-collegiate tournaments.

The Institute possesses good sports facilities. Gym, Indoor stadium, playground, good facilities for various games such as Football, cricket, basketball, volleyball, shuttle and recreation facilities are available.

Medical Dispensary

A well equipped separate medical dispensary facility is available for students and staff. The College provides healthcare facilities to the students whenever required. FIRST AID KITs are available in the hostels and in the respective departments for the free of cost.

All Sick Rooms are well ventilated and adequately furnished such that the students who happen to fall sick or those that require taking little span of rest for certain specific reasons can do so. In cases of medical requirement, members of faculty in the vicinity attend to the students for arranging medical facility.

Central Library

At present this library has a stock of 75081 volumes with a 18,563 titles of books and about 1061 back volumes of scientific and technical periodicals. The library also subscribed to over 127 National journals and 33 magazines and  more than 4731 e-Journals like IEEE, ELSEVIER,ASCE, J-GATE Engg. and DELNET-IESTC.  The SSEC Central library follows the open access system, encouraging the user to browse freely in the stock area.

Information is an essential input to national development. The modern Library has great responsibility in harnessing and utilization of information. The library and information centers strive for high quality of library services which emphasis the actual delivery of information rather than actual delivery of documents for meeting their generic as well as specific needs of the users.

Standard text books and books by authors of repute in all fields taught at the college are stocked. The college follows a policy of buying multiple copies of many of these books to make them available to a large number of students. There is no question of budget approval when it comes to the buying of books. Thus students are not likely to be handicapped for want of reference materials at any time.

We are maintaining 23 systems in the Digital Library and latest Software Libsys LSM 10 for Library administration and Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) for Staff and Students for checking of  books available in the Central Library. The Staff and Students can access NPTEL Video Lessons, Old Question Papers, e-books and e-journals through Intranet service throughout the campus.


The College has 1030Mbps Internet bandwidth to facilitate entire college with redundancy leased-line connections. The bandwidth is sourced from BSNL . Presently, CISCO access points have been installed to provide 24×7 Wi-Fi facility in the entire Campus & Hostels. All the Access Points are Licensed. The high quality persistent bandwidth offers high speed and uninterrupted Internet connectivity from anywhere on the campus through the campus LAN & Wi-Fi with Load Balancing & Network Redundancy Technology. The Campus has 1Gbps OFC backbone support with underground cabling . All Departments have CISCO network switches, which are connected to the central server room.


A home away from home, the hostels at SSEC is more than four walls and a roof. They have been designed to provide a comfortable, safe, inclusive and secure living even as they provide opportunities to form lasting friendships and ease the transition from home to college. Residential staff is always available to support the students from different backgrounds to promote community. Living on campus provides students with opportunities to:

  • Develop stronger interpersonal and communication skills
  • Engage in campus leadership, organizations and activities
  • Establish relationships with faculty and staff members

Hostel review committee meetings are conducted by the hostel warden team members to address students’ queries and requirements, and to keep them updated on up gradation of services and events. Students are also given the privilege to give suggestions to improve the hostel facilities.

Separate secured hostel facilities are available for both boys and girls to accommodate 725 + students. Institute provides 100% accommodation for girl students. The hostels have the amenities such as Digital Library with Internet, Gymnasium, Providing 24×7 Wi-Fi Internet with 40 No. of Cisco Access Points , Reading room, Generator, outdoor play area and First aid facilities. Hostels are well furnished with spacious rooms with attached toilets, large dining hall supported by hygienic kitchen.


  • Rooms equipped with ergonomically designed furniture which includes a cot, chair, study table, study lamp, bookshelf and a cupboard.
  • First aid centre, pharmacy, photocopy service, food kiosks, gymnasium , sport amenities, laundry service, Wi-Fi service,  utility shop and visitor rooms.
  • Residential Counselors, Wardens, Supervisors, maintenance staff and security guards available 24×7.
  • Security guard to chaperone and safe transit students to and from the campus to the nearest railway station and bus stops for late night / early hours of the day.
  • 24 hours water supply and power supply supported by stand-by captive generators.
