Department of Civil Engineering has been imparting quality education to meet the technological advancement and industrial requirements. The Department has qualified faculty members with excellent academic records, state-of-art laboratories and highly good infrastructure facilities. Our main objective is to establish a mastery of fundamental knowledge, problem solving skills, engineering experimental abilities, and design capabilities for a civil engineering career, to facilitate the advancement of technology to enhance quality, knowledge, competitiveness, sustainability, and environmental stewardship and to establish the knowledge and skills necessary for identifying and assessing design alternatives and the related social, economic, environmental, and public safety impacts.
“Forging New Frontiers”
To emerge as the Centre of Excellence in Civil Engineering through quality professional education and to create eminent leaders with values committed to the profession and society
The department strives to continually engage in:
• To impart state-of-art education and to provide industry exposure to students
• To create civil engineers who successfully adapt and innovate solutions for the built environment
• To inspire and transform the students to hard core professionals and academicians with ethical values
A warm welcome to all the Civil field apirants…
The most important object of Civil Engineering is to improve the means of production and of
traffic in states, both for external and internal trade. It is applied in the construction
and management of roads, bridges, railroads, aqueducts, canals, river navigation, docks and
storehouses, for the convenience of internal exchange; and in the construction of ports,
harbours, moles, breakwaters and lighthouses; and in the navigation by artificial power for
the purpose of commerce.
The Department of Civil Engineering is committed to create efficient Civil Technocrats
catering to the growing needs of construction and allied industries and society. The
department has very strong undergraduate programs. The teaching philosophy of institute is to
ensure the environment makes the learner to grasp the knowledge. The feedback system in the
interactive session helps in analysing each student's adaption and gripping ability.
The department has been able to foster a distinguished approach with the help of the staff
and has excellent credentials and a promising outlook. The faculty members are well-educated
and have en-number of publications in multiple journals and conference proceedings. It gives
me immense pleasure to lead such a prestigious and productive department in all aspects.
I congratulate the teaching faculty as well as the students for their brilliant efforts to
make the strong foundation of the department. I wish all the students to get into a great
academic career ahead. Thank you.
The department has well-equipped labs in all disciplines which gratify to the needs of the undergraduate students.
The laboratory of Surveying is well equipped with all the required instruments and tools that are helpful in the overall understanding and practical knowledge of a student.
Students learn techniques for gathering field data with both traditional and modern instruments.
Surveying Lab offers additional experience in fundamental land surveying measurement methods for surveying courses, including precision steel taping methods to perform horizontal measurements, digital theodolites to perform angular measurements and traditional & automatic levels for elevation measurements.
Furthermore, students have an opportunity to use total station equipment, which enables horizontal, vertical and angular measurements to be made in one operation.
The Environmental Engineering lab offers hands-on exposure to EPA approved water and waste water quality testing procedure as it is normally done at a water and waste water treatment plant. It is equipped with turbidimeter, BOD incubator, pH meters, conductivity meters and other equipments dedicated to water and waste water quality analysis.
The lab is meant for testing the basic building materials, assessing its properties & analysing whether it confirms to the standards given by Bureau of Indian Standard Codes. It is equipped with sophisticated & expensive equipments like Universal testing machine, Brinell Hardness testing machine, Impact testing machine etc.
The laboratory is meant to handle standard material testing related to soil, sand etc. The soil testing equipment allows for investigation of index properties of soil, direct shear, permeability, unconfined compressive strength etc. The lab is equipped with highly developed CBR, Casagrande Apparatus, Triaxial Cells, High Speed Stirrer, and Sieve Shaker etc..
The lab is meant for testing the basic building materials, assessing its properties & analyzing whether it confirms to the standards given by Bureau of Indian Standard Codes. It is equipped with sophisticated & expensive equipments like Universal testing machine, Brinell Hardness testing machine, Impact testing machine, Slump test Apparatus, Cube Testing Machines along with highway equipments like Viscometer etc.
The lab has basic fluid mechanic set up. It is equipped with different flow measuring set up such as venturi meter, notches, orifice meter different pumps etc. where students can visualize basic theory of working of the flow meter.
We aim to enrich the student’s knowledge in the field of CAD software and study of various distinctive features & tools used in Auto CAD and the uses of this software in Civil Engineering is covered extensively.
